Her poetry flows from the soul and is startlingly beautiful verse, for a first book. Kudos to Ms. Gade for the bliss and glory she takes us into as her verse guides us into and beyond life.

I read this eBook in a day because it was that good. The soothing poems will take you to a relaxing state. It's filled with love, pain, mixed emotion. A little bit of everything actually. It was difficult to have a favorite so I'll say I loved them all, and I think you will as well. A new poet with great potential!
I found all of the poems to be very insightful to the author's own thoughts and feelings. I found love, pain and longing mingled between lovely words and sentences.
This collection of poems is a very quick read that is easy to read in just one seating. Maybe it is that I don't really know a lot about poetry, but the poems didn't really touch my sensitive side and didn't make me feel anything. They read too prosaic to me, and they could have used one more round of edits. The huge grammar mistake in the acknowledgements page was like a slap. The poems were well-crafted and they show talent.
Author Helle Gade is new to publishing but you wouldn't guess it from the complexity and potency of her writing. Silent Dreams contains poetry of a unique style, with religion and Nordic beliefs wove into the author's own experience and pain. It is modern as it is classical. I felt reading the author was very in touch with her heritage and not afraid to share it with an English audience. There are even a couple poems in her own language which I loved as well. This book is a game changer; it is vibrant and alive. I promise you will never look at poetry the same way again.
"Silent Dreams" is the first collection of poetry published by Danish writer, Helle Gade. I was absolutely stunned by the depth of emotion in these poems. The collection is separated into four sections Chaos, Nordic, Darkness and Joy - each containing poems expressing those emotions. I love mythology, so I was particularly drawn to the Nordic section. She even includes several poems in her native language. I can't wait to read more from this inspiring poet.
I'm not a big poetry reader. I know little about proper form and style. I only know what moves me, and Helle Gade's words do just that.
My favorite thing about Gade's poetry is the way she captures life with chronic illness. The pain, the mind-melting fatigue, and the isolation, mixed with the hope and perseverance, come through with a special kind of beauty. In these poems, I feel I've found a kindred soul.
This is the author's first book of poetry, and a compelling start to her writing career.
Even with me being a poet, I don't pick up many poetry collections to review. But I'm starting to find some great collections that I can pick up and can't seem to put them down. Silent Dreams is one of those.
I was surprised when I finished, because I read it "cover-to-cover" (ebooks don't have covers, silly me). I rarely have the attention span to read more than a few poems at a time, even when it's a collection from one of my favorites. Gade's words sucked me in and didn't let me go until the very end.
I enjoyed that there was a great mixture of themes throughout, along with a little treat at the end. The last two poems were in the poet's native Danish. While I don't have any idea what the words meant, I tried to recite the poems. I failed miserably, but it only added to my enjoyment of the collection. When a can create beautiful works in multiple languages, it's a show of skills many writers don't possess.
This collection will be one I go back to, to re-read and share with fellow poetry fans for a while to come.
